Flexible Schedule

Embrace the freedom to compose and learn on your own terms. Designed for composers worldwide, the Online Graduate Diploma in Film and Game Scoring easily fits into to your unique lifestyle. With hardly any recurring classes or events to schedule, you can work through our educational video series at a pace that's right for you each week.

Why is this program flexible?

Our program is designed with your busy schedule in mind. No matter where you are in the world, you don't need to worry about logging on at a fixed time for classes or seminars.

Instead, we provide comprehensive video training series for each of the 9 modules, totalling approximately 10-15 hours of content per module. You have the freedom to watch and rewatch these videos at your own pace. The only live events are the weekly one-on-one sessions with your Program Leader, the 9 recording sessions with associated one-on-one sessions with Dr. Norman Ludwin, and a few select live events for valuable feedback on your music.

What does the schedule look like?

The Online Graduate Diploma in Film and Game Scoring spans 8 months (35 weeks) of immersive learning. Throughout this period, recording sessions are evenly distributed to ensure a balanced journey. Every Monday, we release new material on our online platform, accessible with your unique login. You'll have weekly 30-minute sessions with your Program Leader at a time that suits both of you. Deadlines associated with recording sessions are crucial, but aside from that, you have the freedom to set your own schedule.

What happens if you are in a different time zone?

The 30 minute one-on-ones with the Program Leader are scheduled at a time that works for both the composer and the Program Leader, so time zones do not have any impact on a composer’s ability to participate successfully in the program.

How many hours per week will the program take?

We respect your time and individual needs. You can watch as much or little of the program content as you want each week. In general, approximately 4-6 hours of instructional videos are released at the start of each week, and you can chip away at watching this material at your own pace.

How long do I have access to the program content?

Completing the Online Graduate Diploma is just the beginning. We provide you with 1 year of access to the program content, even after you finish the 8-month program. This means you have an additional 4 months to revisit and deepen your understanding. Previous composers have found this extended access immensely valuable.

How does the online programme work?

This is both an asynchronous and synchronous program. Composers do not need to sign on at a certain time each day for classes. Composers watch our training series, which we have filmed and edited at the Academy, at times convenient to them. The 9 recording sessions are scheduled and distributed throughout the 8 month course.

Module content, lectures and exercises are delivered via our exclusive online platform, which we have coded and created specifically for this program. Students login with their unique login details for access to the program content.

Each student will have weekly 30-minute one-on-one sessions with our Online Programme Leader on course content, as well as a 30-minute one-on-one session with Dr. Norman Ludwin, our orchestration lecturer and one of Michael Giacchino's orchestrators, on their orchestrations prior to each recording session. Each student will also participate in group sessions hosted throughout the programme where their music is reviewed by FSAE faculty.

All recording sessions will be held in Doli Media Studio and Sofia Session Studio, conducted and produced by the faculty at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, and recorded by the European Recording Orchestra (ERO). Students do not need to attend the recording sessions in person. Instead, students will be able to login to the HD video and audio streams to produce their recording sessions alongside our team of orchestrators and score supervisors.

The online Graduate Diploma in Film and Game Scoring includes lectures from our core faculty, but not our celebrity guest artists, who are reserved for our full-time MFA programme.
